At work chilling - 05:15 PM October 21, 2007 from web - was the first words I typed on Twitter. It is amazing how a simple web application like Twitter just BLEW the hell up. TWITTER, what is twitter.
Twitter, "Twitter is a community of friends and strangers from around the world
sending updates about moments in their lives. Friends near or far can
use Twitter to remain somewhat close while far away. Curious people
can make friends. Bloggers can use it as a mini-blogging tool." That is straight from the Twitter's FAQs page.
"Twitter began as a research and development project inside Odeo, Inc. by Noah Glass and Jack Dorsey, and debuted in March 2006", according to Wikipedia. It is an amazing project, not the application itself, but the people who are involved and blogging everyday in Twitter. Blogging, podcasting, and video sharing sites like YouTube are huge.
There are so many people using Twitter. The several terms used in Twitter as well, some sort of jargon that is used by Twitterlers all the time. Twitternance, Twitterverse, GM, and @labanex.
Love Love Love. I remember the day that the local paper was were one found love. Yes I was the one with a red marker circling the ads from other people to hopefully meet up with possible love. Then came Yahoo! Personals. Yahoo! was quicker and more efficient. Now we got Twitternance. Folks are out in public @someone with @themselves making sweet love in public in the Twitterverse. It is something to see.
I am a huge universe and science fan. But the Twitterverse is a universe all in itself. It is filled with people, only allowed to post 140 characters of text in one post. My first post was simply saying that I am at work. All of a sudden, I had a lot of people responding to how I was at work and wishing me a fair welcome to the Twitterverse. My wife did not know about it much until we went to PodCampAZ. My wife, @citywitch (also known as The Witch in the City), is addicted to it big time.
I do not think that Twitter is going to replace blogging, video sharing (like Viddler or YouTube), voice blogging like Utterz, or podcasting. But Twitter is the thing that is going to be around for a long time. Twitter is where it's at now.
Text messenging on the phone, instant message from AIM or GTALK, or on the web site, one can Utterz from just about anywhere. On the road, at home, or at work, or play, Twitter, Flickr, and Utterz is the new mobile community sites that will change how people communicate on this planet.
Twitternance?
