cover.jpg I started attending Long Beach City College Spring semester of 1993.  My major was Film at the time and decided to change to television and music production instead because I had no idea how elaborate the television and music labs were in the music department.

I could not WAIT until Fall 1993 so I could begin working in the music and television department.  WOW, what an experience!  The main people I remember the most were my best friends Chante Holsey and Dalonte Smith.  I also met my lifetime best friend and film partner Jules Christian as well at LBCC.  Wow, those were the days.

The music I made during this time was all for fun.  But locked away on a magnetic format D.A.T. (Digital Audio Tape), especially since D.A.T. are not in production any more, I have not heard my music since 1995.  Now for the first time, thanks to Rob at yipDogStudios, I am now able to hear my music.

They say that magnetic tape can only last 10 years or so in the best conditions, like a dry cool environment.  Well, my tapes have been through HOT Arizona summers in storage and extreme humidity weather in North Carolina.  After all these years of careless handling, I can archive the audio and thanks again to Rob, he was able to transfer the audio files digitally on his MAC to a WAVE file and burned it on a DVD-R.  I just picked up the DVD last night (January 26, 2008), awesome.  It has been over 10 years now.

Here it is...

Above pictures on on Yahoo! Flickr: This DAT (Digital Audio Tape) is a recording of the music I made when I attended Long Beach City College (Liberal Arts Campus, California) in 1993. I am surprised that the tape is still good after all of these years. With the help of a good friend Rob from yipDog Studios, he was able to DIGITALLY transfer the audio to a WAVE file (48 kHz - 16 bit) and save it on a DVD, all 2 hours of it.  [Utterz]

(original tape Fall 1993 - maxell DAT DM 120 Ceramic Armor Metal - Digital Audio Tape Back Coated / now archived as of January 26, 2008- Memorex DVD-R SL - 1.3GB 16bits/44.1kHz wave file)

The track numbers below corresponds with the track data on the tape.  Some of the music can be heard on the First CD article.

NOTE: All color coded letters and numbers are referenced to the notes below.

01 Deliverance (B)
02 Mood (B)
03 Get Into It (B 1)

These songs are probably the very first pieces of music I've made at LBCC. Very new age...

A song I dedicated to a great musician

The Little Jam

Tear It Up06 Tear It Up (B 1)

Tear It Up is a party song, but Laid is after the party. Laid may be too graphic for younger audiences. This is one of my personal favorites.

13 Step Off The Sweeetness (B 2)
Dalonte Smith's first rap song.

14 Ten Pounds Light (v.1) (B 2)
Dalonte Smith's second rap song. The echo effect was too strong. I remixed it and can be heard again below.

15 Exorcists (v.1) (B 1 2)
Dalonte Smith's third rap song. We had fun doing this one, but he was saying "estisis" instead of "exorcist".
September 11, 1993

16 Exorcists (v.2) (B 1 2)
Dalonte Smith's fourth rap song. He was still saying "estisis" instead of "exorcist". A friend of ours who heard the first Exorcist said that he should be more angry. Well he was, but a little too much, as you will see.

17 Let's Make It (music) (B)
This is also one of my personal favorites, a techno-industrial piece.
